Listening to New Blue Sun takes you on a journey within. Although it has no lyrics, each song is a mantra on its own. With the interpretation up to the listener. I feel like the messages you are meant to hear will find you, the composition of each song leads you to somewhere new each time. With every listen I am taken on a sonic journey where the story can be felt as much as it is heard. There is no need for words, the sound carries everything that it needs.
I often walk to this album, my feet on autopilot. Carrying me through many paths I’ve walked before. Some I have not. With each step, my perspective feels brand new, like I am seeing the world for the first time.
When I got the opportunity to hear New Blue Sun live I took it. Not only did it feel historical, it felt like an honor to be there. A no-phones show completely focused on the Music. I loved the present-mindedness of it all, there was nothing else to focus on other than the sounds surrounding us. It was a true full-body experience.
As I sat there and watched Andre and his bandmates in deep play, playing their instruments and moving about the stage, I was in awe. Here we were watching them play and enjoying it, in a way we were all playing. It felt refreshing to be somewhere so raw. With the natural sounds and spontaneity of the performance.
Once again I was reminded of Everything Everywhere all at once. Right there before my eyes, I was seeing it, everything everywhere was happening all at once and it was beautiful to see. I could feel the music in my body, each sound a welcomed caress to my inner ear.
Whether I am walking, writing, or creating art; listening to New Blue Sun puts me in the flow state. listening to this album puts me in the present, no worry about time. I am simply here. What a gift music can bring, moments of clarity and present mind.
Music itself is a gift, music that brings people together across multiple differences for a single similarity is wonderful. Being at his concert made me realize, like most concerts I’ve been to, the power of music. Music is so powerful. which is why it’s so important for people to just try things out, enjoy playing, and express themselves freely. Allow yourself to get wrapped up in everything everywhere all at once and see what happens.
I love the way music can inspire. I’ve made a lot of art (like the collage above) to this body of art, another gift that keeps on giving.
